Anarchists. The word drives people away, scares them away. Anarchy to the average American sounds rebelious, unorderly, associated with moltov cocktails and bricks through ‘Star Bucks’ windows. This is a false representation of what the participants in this political idea are involved with. Those who believe in anarchism are not violent, they do not wish for a lawless world and to spoil the minds of your children. The common anarchist desires a healthy world, laws but no authority, a capitalist free economy, and over all a place where no ones head is lodged into their rear.
If many people can just examine the American way, let alone the whole world, they will observe the injustices, witness lies and misrepresentation, abuse, and most of all a dog eats dog atmosphere. Emma Goldman, though born in 1869 still has words that reign relevant today, wrote an essay “What is patriotism?” in 1908 that questions the very ignorance of nationalism. During the gilded age, very early 20th century, poverty poisoned every newcomer, food only reached the greedy, and housing did not provide anything close to humane (as demonstrated by muckracker Jacob Riis). Emma Goldman questioned the cruelty and the swank of the American government when cities threw money at a military fleet for show “two hundred and sixty thousand dollars were spent on fireworks, theater parties, and revelries, at a time when men, women, and children through the breadth and length of the country were starving in the streets.”
Those children hadn’t eaten for days back then, probably would not for a few more, but thank god the government gave them a parade to watch. Thank the lord the children could see how shiny new toys for a military is of higher priority than the well being of the citizens that those fleets are SUPPOSED to protect. The idea of this compared to an anarchist built planet is that no one would need protection thus feeding the kids who need it, providing their parents with a way to make a silly ends meet, anarchy would provide a place with no borders or conflict and the only concern is the wellfare of others. This is no longer the gilded age, America is in the age of information where ignorance is a common choice. Today unemployment is at 7.5%, the U.S. is in the rut of a recession, whole families are homeless, and some kids only meal is the mutton they’re served at school. While America is fighting a war on terrorism it’s own people are not in the best position. The funny thing, the hilarious thing is the war on terrorism, could have absolutely no end, the U.S. is fighting an inanimate object, this war can go forever because the Americans are deciding what is terrorism. It’s disgusting really, how the military is pumped money for no reason on this damned earth while people are out on their own. 10 billion dollars spent in 2012 on “terrorism” that could have fed families, employed adults, sent kids to college. With anarchy there is no war, especially not one on such a laughable IDEA as terrorism.
